Frequently Asked Questions

Everything You Need to Know About Bail

Common Questions

What is a bail bond?
A bail bond is a financial guarantee to the court that a defendant will appear at all scheduled court dates. Instead of paying the full bail amount, you pay a bail bondsman a percentage (typically 10%) and the bondsman guarantees the full amount to the court.
How much does a bail bond cost?
For bail of $5,000 or less, the premium is 10%. For bail over $5,000, the premium is 7% plus a $150 fee. For example, if bail is set at $10,000, you would pay $850 ($700 + $150). This fee is non-refundable. Use our Bond Calculator to estimate your cost.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes! We understand that coming up with bail money can be stressful. We offer flexible payment plans to help make the process more affordable. We accept cash, all major credit cards, and money orders. Call us to discuss options.
How long does it take to get someone out of jail?
Once the bond is posted, release times vary depending on the facility. Local police stations can take as little as 30 minutes to a few hours. Larger correctional facilities may take several hours. We work as fast as possible to expedite the process.
What happens if the defendant doesn't show up to court?
If the defendant fails to appear in court (FTA), the court will issue a bench warrant for their arrest and the full bail amount becomes due. The co-signer becomes responsible for the entire bail amount. The defendant may also face additional charges and could end up on our Most Wanted list.
What is a co-signer / indemnitor?
A co-signer (also called an indemnitor) is the person who signs the bail bond contract and takes financial responsibility for ensuring the defendant appears in court. The co-signer is typically a friend or family member. They must be a legal adult with verifiable income and/or collateral.
Is the bail bond fee refundable?
No. The bail bond premium is non-refundable. This is the fee charged for the bail bondsman's service and guarantee to the court, regardless of the outcome of the case. However, any collateral posted is returned once the case is concluded and all obligations are met.
